Grezia Moscoso Joyo

Committed to ensuring underrepresented communities are not limited by circumstance.

Grezzia Moscoso Joyo

Grezzia Moscoso Joyo is a rising junior and first-gen college student studying Economics and Mathematics at American University. As a proud Latina immigrant from Peru who has called Washington, DC, home for the past 11 years, Grezzia joined Dollar Scholars out of a sincere desire to give back to the community that shaped her. Motivated by her own journey, she is committed to help ensure that neither her community nor other underserved populations— locally and globally— are limited by circumstance.

Therefore, as a volunteer instructor and active member of Dollar Scholars, Grezzia has dedicated her work to expanding the nonprofit’s reach, accessibility, and impact within the DC immigrant community. She has helped connect Dollar Scholars with local immigrant-serving organizations, and is now working closely with the team to amplify Dollar Scholar’s ongoing outreach efforts, ensuring that more immigrants across the DMV region can engage with and benefit from the financial education services and resources provided by Dollar Scholars.

Outside of her work with Dollar Scholars, Grezzia serves as a DC Reads Educational Advocate at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School in Washington DC. In her role, she works closely with adult immigrant learners to strengthen their English literacy and proficiency skills across reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Through her dedicated volunteering service, she is committed to equipping her students with the tools and confidence that will push them to pursue greater educational and lucrative opportunities in the U.S.
