Dr. Jeffrey Dickinson

Dr. Dickinson is a professor of economics at American University whose research focuses on economic development, rural agriculture and gender. Dr. Dickinson’s interest in financial literacy came about through reading the latest research papers in economics by authors such as Dr. Veronica Frisancho, Dr. Annamaria Lusardi, and others describing the financial literacy gap between men and women. Jeff is extremely passionate about motivating social change using data and rigorous methods, with decisions backed by causal evidence from peer-reviewed research. Dr. Dickinson teaches econometrics, economic development, and microeconomics. He has consulted on research projects for the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Dr. Dickinson grew up in Glover Park, and lives in D.C. with his partner, Leslie, and their dog, Timea. A fun fact about Dr. Dickinson is that he was certified in SCUBA diving at age 12, and, as part of a program he studied marine biology, subtropical zone ecology, and environmental philosophy for a summer during high school on Sanibel Island, Florida.
